The All-State Choruses are highly select groups of choral students from Florida's junior high, middle and senior high schools who are brought together for the purposes of rehearsing and performing selected music with guest conductors.
The next FMEA Clinic-Conference / All-State dates are January 7-10, 2009, in Tampa. For more information, see FMEA's conference page.
Checklist for Directors
In order to assist you in your last minute preparation for All-State, please use this check list before you leave for and during the clinic in January.
Coordinators
Please notify the coordinator immediately if any student chosen for All-State tells you they cannot fulfill the obligation to go. Replacements are waiting anxiously for a chance. A student might even be replaced 24 hours before the event. Cell phones and home or school e-mails are given below.

Registration
Directors should be aware that there are two different forms of registration:
- Audition registration: Directors who wish to enter students in the All-State chorus auditions must register entering students using both paper applications and FVA's online registration. Contact your district chairman for instructions in the fall.
- Conference registration: Directors with students that earn a place in an All-State chorus must register both themselves and their students for the FMEA conference. You can do this using the paper application or online through the FMEA web site.
Rehearsal notes
To ensure each chorus is balanced, please note the following voice distributions:
- 7-8 Mixed Chorus
- 7-8 Treble Chorus
- 9-12 audition notes for all high school students
- 9-12 TTBB Men's Chorus
- 9-12 SSAA Women's Chorus: Not yet available
- 9-12 Mixed Chorus: Not yet available
Sight-reading study materials
- Audio introduction: C Major / Standard & G Major / Changing Voice
- Sight-reading procedures
- Past examples: MS Treble Clef, MS Bass Clef, HS Treble Clef, HS Bass Clef
- Practice SR exercise: A newly composed practice exercise will be used in the audition room each year. Remember: the practice exercise is not scored.
