The Florida Vocal Association is sad to report that Michael DeShong, former President of FVA, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the age of 76.
Mr. DeShong graduated from Bay High School in the Florida Panhandle in 1958, and earned his degree in music education from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 1963. He served as choral director at Hollywood Hills High School in Broward County from 1967 until his retirement in 1990, and as President of the Florida Vocal Association from 1981 to 1983.
FVA joins Mr. DeShong’s family, friends, colleagues, and former students in celebrating his life, and in mourning his passing.
