Jim Urbanski, 72, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018. He is survived by his wife of not yet 47 years, Ruth, his two daughters, Lynn and Sarah, and his two granddaughters, Alex and Eleanor. He taught music for nearly 50 years to thousands of students, conducted countless choruses and orchestras, and led hundreds of concerts.

A generous mentor to numerous young choral directors across the entire state, Jim faithfully served the Florida Vocal Association for many years as both a leader and volunteer. He deserves much of the credit for bringing FVA (kicking and screaming) from pencil and paper into the computer age!

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to The American Cancer Society or The Florida Orchestra. The family is receiving visitors at Faupel Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 24, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A brief memorial will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 25, also at Faupel Funderal Home.
