AdjudicatOR Training Information
Registration for the July 2026 Adjudicator Training Session is now open.
The next adjudicator training session will be held July 21, 2026 9am–5pm prior to the FVA Summer Conference at at the conference hotel. The cost is $50 for all registrants.
There is no on-site registration. All participants must register online in advance using the button below. Then, use your FMEA username and password to login and sign up.
Adjudicator Training Workshops are designed to ensure that the participants have a practical knowledge of the adjudication process, and to maintain the intent, value, and purpose of FVA Music Performance Assessments. They are also targeted at teachers who desire a better understanding of the elements of choral music education, and the methodology and techniques that can enhance their teaching skills. To this extent, you may register to take the training for your own professional development without pursuing CBAA status.
To be listed as a Choral, Sight-Reading, or Ensemble Component Board Approved Adjudicator (CBAA) an individual must meet the following criteria:
- Their concert choirs must receive Superior ratings at district-level MPAs for at least three of the last five years of teaching.
- Successfully complete an adjudicator training session(s).
- Successfully complete an adjudicator internship program.
- By recommendation by the Adjudication Committee to the Executive Board, and approved by the Executive Board at the May meeting of that board.
Individuals who are seeking to renew their CBAA status must meet the following criteria:
- Their concert choirs must receive Superior ratings at district-level MPAs for at least three of the last five years of teaching.
- Successfully complete an adjudicator training session(s).
Renewal sessions are also held on the Wednesday prior to the FMEA Conference in Tampa each January.
